1980年11月22日上午,广东省委第一书记任仲夷同志同《南方日报》、《羊城晚报》的领导同志座谈。他听了报社简要的汇报之后,就报纸宣传问题谈了一些意见。任仲夷同志在谈到报纸开展批评与自我批评的重要性时说,我们的报纸向来是重视开展批评与自我批评的报道的,但是有一段时间中断了,报纸上光讲好的,一好百好。这两年来报纸逐步恢复了批评性的报道,对推动工作,改进作风,起了积极作用。报纸的批评的这种效果,反映了群众的力量,群众在党领导下监督干部产生的力量。但是,应当引起注意的是,揭露我们自己阴暗面的报道,不宜太多,更不要作过份的渲染,否则会使人发生错觉,削弱党在群众中的威信,影响安定团结,不利于社会主义建设。
