Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis (AHC) is a highly contagious epidemic eye disease, caused by most commonly by two enterovirus serotypes, enetrovirus 70 (EV70) and coxsackievirus A24 variant (CVA24v).In Korea,seventy-one strains of CVB24v were isolated from 159 conjunctival specimens (45%).EV70 also might be prevalent in Korea although the viral isolation cases of EV70 were not officially reported.AHC induced by CVA24v and EV70 occur a large impact on public health. However, neither vaccine nor therapeutic treatment is available.
