The process of isolating an individual protein from the several thousands of other proteins in the extract is a critical step of major importance to proteomics and structural biology researches.However,proteins differ widely in their chemical and structural properties and are not easily if at all purified in the same way.For recombinant,rather than natural,proteins fusion of an affinity tag to the N or C terminal (or both) allows purification on a specific ligand under standard conditions and is appropriate for purification of numerous but not all proteins.In this research,the development of a novel tag system enabling the purification of proteins on a cheap support was quite challenging.
