Hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) is an alternative method to reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RP-LC) for the separation of polar compounds.Hydrophilic stationary phase as the key point of HILICs development has gained more and more attentions.A variety of silica-based stationary phases have been developed for HILIC separation such as neat silica gel or bonded with amino-, diol-, cyano-, amide-and zwitterionic sulfobetaine ligandsl.Among them, amino stationary phase showed typical hydrophilicity, which was applied for isolation of carbohydrates in the early 1970s2.
