The increasing demand for the analysis of polar compounds in biological and environmental samples promotes the development of hydrophilic-interaction chromatography (HILIC), which has better separation capacity for polar compounds and better compatibility with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS).Several polar separation materials were commercially available or prepared and demonstrated good chromatographic performance for various polar compounds under HILIC mode. However, the separation selectivity of different types of separation materials is different under HILIC mode. Therefore, it is favorable to explore some new stationary phases with different selectivity for HILIC, and thus to expand the applications of this separation technique.
