Amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP) is a well-known human food-borne intoxication caused by the consumption of contaminated shellfish.Domoic acid is the key chemical responsible for ASP1.HPLC is often the only analytical tool available in many regulatory agencies responsible for monitoring the occurrence of toxins (domoic acid, in this case)2.Therefore, a reliable, simple and low cost method with high sensitivity and selectivity for determination of domoic acid in seafood is highly demanded.
