Objectives: Heparanase (HPSE) is an extracellular matrix-degradation enzyme and plays important roles in various physiologic and pathologic processes, such as inflammation, tumorigenesis, angiogenesis and wound healing.The purpose of this preliminary study is to investigate the expression of HPSE in the synovial fluid of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and elementarily discuss its clinical significance.
