1931年,日本侵略者展开全面侵华战争,使全国多地都被沦陷。为了抵抗日军的侵略,中国共产党于1935年通过多方势力与阎锡山接触,达成了一致抗日的共识,最终建立起山西牺牲救国同盟会(以下简称“牺盟会”),一个说着山西方言,却受中国共产党直接领导的共同抗日的组织。牺盟会在组织山西新军抗日的过程中,起着极为重要的作用,牺盟会进行抗日政策的宣传,不断动员更多的人民参与进来,为保卫家园抛头颅撒热血,为山西抗战乃至整个中国的抗战作出了杰出的贡献。
