20世纪80年代,北京大学王选教授领导研制了北大方正电子出版系统。系统在报社的广泛应用,代替了传统的铅排制版印刷,把沿用了几百年的铅字印刷术送进了博物馆,完成了我国报业“告别铅与火”的第一次技术革命。但是,直到90年代初,涉及报社众多编辑、经营部门和大多数人的报纸新闻采编与经营业务的信息化还是空白点。为此,1992年北京大学计算机研究所和北大方正集团公司从研制新闻采编自动化技术入手,开始了对新闻报业整个采编生产与经营管理流程进行全面数字化、网络化、一体化的技术研发工作,瞄准国际同行最高水平,实现中国报业产业“甩掉纸与笔”的历史变革。
In the 1980s, Professor Wang Xuan of Peking University led the development of Founder Electronics Publishing System. The system has been widely used in the newspapers, replacing the traditional lead plate making and printing.
