When Hugo was born, his body was very thin. His father saw how his “reed-like neck” could not support him. He was very disappointed. He thought he was the longest living person in the family. Longevity has allowed the writer’s creative career to last more than 60 years. The great works such as “The Tragic World”, “The Laughing Man,” “1993” and so on were all completed in his later years. However, his longevity also made him have to witness one of his loved ones away from his side. Go, parents and brothers, wife and children. On September 4, 1943, Leopardina, Hugo’s eldest daughter, and her newly-married husband sailed on the Seine river and suffered a storm, both drowned. Shocked by the news, the poet expressed his grief: “In the beginning, I was almost crazy,” “I really want to break my brain on the stone.”... The collection of poems “Still View” published in 1856 was Leopoldina’s death was divided into two volumes, “The Past” and “Today”, which portrayed the poet’s love for his daughter.
