大都会艺术博物馆,建于1880年,是美国最大的艺术博物馆,也是世界著名博物馆。整个博物馆是一幢大厦。仅画廊就有200多个,共收藏有近300万件艺术品。随着藏品的不断增加,该馆经历了多次扩建,整幢大楼凝聚着各个时期不同的建筑风格。博物馆展出自古代文明至当代的艺术作品,其中有成百上千件世界文明的杰作。整座的两千四百多年前的埃及古墓移置在馆内专建的大厅中的巨型玻璃罩里,令人叹为观止,可谓镇馆之宝。服饰馆也堪称世界之最,收集了四个世纪以来五大洲的各民族服装1.5万余件。馆内还珍藏几乎所有欧洲大师的油画及大量美国视觉艺术和现代艺术作品。
Metropolitan Museum of Art, built in 1880, is the largest art museum in the United States, is also a world famous museum. The entire museum is a building. There are more than 200 galleries in the gallery alone, collecting nearly 3 million works of art. With the continuous increase of collections, the museum has undergone many expansion and the whole building has different architectural styles in different periods. The museum displays works of art from ancient civilizations to contemporary ones, with hundreds of pieces of world-class masterpieces. The entire 24,400-year-old Egyptian tombs have been transplanted into the huge glass covers in the hall specially built in the museum. Clothing Museum is also the highest in the world, collecting the four continents since the five continents of more than 15,000 pieces of clothing. The museum also houses almost all the masterpieces of European oil paintings and a large number of American visual art and modern art.
