左琴科的幽默讽刺作品的叙事焦点总是对准远非英雄的大众,他们是生活困顿的小市民,是处于社会底层的边缘人。所谓边缘人,即是指社会角色定位边缘的弱势群体,处在经济生活的贫困线上,政治上无法自主的他们往往被主流社会所忽视,在整个社会结构中,这个群体实际上又占据国家人口的大多数,作为一个时代的自然形成,具有广泛的社会性和代表性。这个活生生不能忽略的边缘群体始终是左琴科言说的主体,作家侧重展示了这个边缘群体的灰色生活图景。
