In addition to the apparent surficial deformation associated with the sinistral strike-slip Kunlun fault (KF),INDEPTH Phases Ⅲ and Ⅳ magnetotelluric results reveal that more complex deformation processes are occurring at midcrustal depths in northern Tibet.Two- dimensional (2D) anisotropic and 3D isotropic magnetotelluric modelling/inversions have been applied to data from the INDEPTH Ⅲ 600 and INDEPTH Ⅳ 6000 transects crossing the Kunlun Fault,one of the major northern tectonic boundaries of the atypical topography of the Tibetan plateau.
