Tracing the source of Z compounds based on EA-IRMS coupled with LC-MS and statistical analysis

　　An analytical method consisting of including pretreatment, instrumental and statistical analysis for source tracing of non-benzodiazepine Z compounds in market tablets to active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) including zopidem (Zp), zopielone (Zo), and zaleplon (Za) was developed.Good recovery of 78-109% indicates the efficiency of the developed method.Elemental Analysis Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (EA-IRMS) was used to yield δ13C/δ15N isotope fingerprints.The Principle Component Analysis (PCA) results showed high correlation between four sets of APIs and commercially available Z compounds (Zpl to Zp3; ZP to Zp5; Zol to Zo6; Zal to Za2).
