In the 1980s, the discovery of C60 opened up a new area for chemical science study.The surface modification of C60 is one of the important research directions in fullerene chemistry.Although the 6-6 double bond in six-member ring of C60 surface is more active, the percent conversion rate of C60 is not high, so the crude reaction mixture usually contained not only a variety of products, but also unreacted reactants.It is necessary to separate and analyze the mixture and to understand whether the target product exists and its possible structure is by the use of high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), so as to determine the appropriate separation and purification methods.
