Up to now,only a very few genetic diversity has been used in rapeseed breeding programs and even in more academic genetic studies.However,a wide range of variability can be seeked for breeding via intra and inter-specific crosses.Therefore,we aimed at characterizing both intra and inter-specific diversity of a large set of genetic resources usable for rapeseed breeding comprising oil,forage,swede,spring and winter rapeseed types,and the diploid progenitors Brassica oleracea and Brassica rapa..Once we evaluated the rapeseed diversity and established a relevant subset of progenitor diversity,we tested the feasibility and the success of transferring this diversity to rapeseed through triploid hybrids.
