Pollinator specificity and strict-sense coevolution have been considered as the predominate evolutionary process in the fig (Ficus) and fig wasp (Agaonidae) obligate mutualism.Hybridization and introgression due to pollinator sharing and shifts among closely related figs suggested another mechanism for codiversification,while evidence for that remains scarce.
