Status of Korean Carbon Industry

  Demands of carbon fibers and other carbon materials rapidly increased in the world and Korea in the fields of new energy systems, environments, and sports industry.The consumption of carbon fiber in Korea was less than 900 tons in 2000, it increased over 3,000 tons in 2012.More than 150 industries are producing carbon fiber related products.In spite of large amount consumption, there was no commercial production in Korea until 2012.In 2013,three industries started to produce PAN-based carbon fiber in amount to 5,700 tons and have plans to increase the production.
