The discovery of new transformations to generate valuable chemicals from abundant,inexpensive gas feedstocks rather than from limited fossil fuels stands a critical goal in chemical synthesis.The disadvantages of current gas/liquid reaction screening methods include cumbersome operations,low efficiency,low reproducibility,cross-contamination,and safety considerations.Herein we designed a novel flow platform that is ideal for screening gas/liquid reactions and can easily be operated at high pressures.This system has proven to be versatile and effective for a variety of reaction patterns.As "proof-of-concept" studies for the discovery of new reactions,acetylene gas has been applied as the feedstock under transition-metal catalysis or photo-redox conditions to produce various types of value-added compounds.A centerpiece of success relies on the unique advantages provided by this newly innovated platform.
