Gas-liquid slug flow in a microchannel carries the advantages that mixing and interfacial mass transfer will be enhanced owing to the circulation flow inside the slugs,but their performance depends on the slug lengths.Therefore,it is necessary to manage the slug lengths.The final goal of this research is to establish a method of design and operation of a gas-liquid slug flow system,which is usually composed of mixers,inlet and outlet channels,sensors and actuators,as shown in Fig.1.As a first step to achieve the goal,a predictive model for the lengths of gas and liquid slugs formed in T-shaped mixers is developed.In addition,a design guideline for stable operation of the slug flow system is investigated.
