A mathematic model was established to exemplify the reproduction strategies that might be adopted by lichens. To maximize the number of their offspring in harsh environment, lichens would not produce a lot spores at a certain season.Instead, lichens that produce less spores at each season are more competitive. This trend can be observed in many groups, such as Dactylina. And some groups (i.e.Thamnolia, Lepraria, etc.) went so far that they gave up sexual reproductions completely.
