Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a binary cancer treatment based upon the high propensity of the nonradioactive nuclide 10B to capture thermal neutrons yielding high linear energy transfer 4He and 7Li nucleus. Each of these fission products has an effective range of 4.5-10 μm in tissue, which limits the extent of cell damage to approximately one cell diameter [1].Therefore,there is a significant interest in developing selective and effective boron delivery systems to accumulate boron atoms in tumor cells sufficiently and spare normal cells simultaneously.
