By using thermo-responsive cell culture substrate, intact cell monolayers can be released spontaneously as a result of thermo-induced surface changing from hydrophobic to hydrophilic, thus this method holds great promise in cell-based therapies and regenerative medicine, especially scaffoldfree tissue engineering [1].Despite the tremendous progress made in cell sheet engineering, many challenges remain to be addressed [2].For example, the cell metabolic processes were obviously suppressed below 32 ℃ (i.e.,the LCST of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm)),which will probably result in a low cell viability of the released cell sheet and hence inefficient clinical therapies.
