Lysolipid thermosensitive liposomes (LTSLs) can be utilised to release their drug payload through the local application of a hyperthermic pulse [1].This study looked at the application of drug-loaded LTSLs encapsulated within a thermoresponsive chitosan/β-glycerophosphate (β-GP) gel for controlled release of DFO.Duration of hyperthermic pulse, delayed application of hyperthermic pulse and a combination of encapsulated and free loaded DFO within this system to induce a multiple burst release profile was assessed.
