Several epidemiological studies reveal that there is a great variation in the susceptibility of individuals of different populations to HIV-1 infection and or disease progression.Host genetic variations play crucial roles in influencing HIV-1 infection and disease progression.Mutations in chemokine receptors CCR5 (CCR5 D3f32),CCR2 (CCR2-64I) anl stromal derived factor SDF-1 (SDF-1-3A) are known to have protective effects against HIV-1 infection and disease progression. We studied the three locus genotype frequency distribution in 500 healthy northern Indians.
