Microwave induced plasma discharges at low pressure have been extensively studied because of various applications such as surface treatment, light sources, material fabrication and elemental analysis[1].When the microwave discharges are struck and sustained at atmospheric pressure (AP),there are many merits in above applications at low pressure, such as without chamber,high-density reactive species and high-throughput processing. In this work,a pulse-modulated microwave argon plasma is produced at AP by a surfaguide launcher with aid of the preionization of a kilohertz excited plasma jet[2].
