Sumoylation is a highly dynamic process and has dramatic effects on many physiological processes.Besides many host proteins modified by SUMO to regulate their functions,viruses can also take advantage of this post-translational modification event for their own benefits.Recently,it has been reported that influenza A virus proteins interact extensively with host sumoylation systems,and several viral proteins,such as NS 1 and M1,are sumoylated to facilitate virus growth.
