Symbionts are ubiquitous in a diverse group of insect hosts, affecting many aspects of development and reproduction of hosts.Like most insects, ticks host a wide variety of symbionts, which exhibit close relationship with tick biology. Our previous study found that Dermacentor silvarum was infected by Coxiella-like, Arsenophonus-like and Rickettsia-like symbionts simultaneously (Liu et al.Appl.Environ.Microbiol.2013, 79: 2450-2454).
