Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) is one of the most costly insect pests of food and fiber crops in China.Pyrethroids are used widely for its control due to their high insecticidal potencies, low mammalian toxicities and biodegradability.Tefluthrin is a typical type Ⅰ, fluorine-containing pyrethroid insecticide.Depending on the preparation, pyrethroids can modify channels in different states. To elucidate the state dependent modification of tefluthrin on sodium channels in central neurons of Helicoverpa armigera, the effects of tefluthrin on sodium channels were investigated using the whole-cell patch clamp technique.
