Understanding food safety trends and anticipating emerging issues remain strategic goals for both policy makers and modern food businesses. These drivers need be observed independently from any regulations, good practices or processes already put in place to achieve food safety. How to cope in a world where information is in abundance, but only the key intelligence will drive a change? Furthermore, what are the means to stay prepared for the future, how to identify the key drivers and design strategies to support food chain resilience at national and global levels? Currently, governments and international organizations are undertaking foresight studies to understand what could be the underlying causes of change in food safety by 2050.At the same time, in todays globalized world, the same drivers are affecting the food industry, driving the need for enhanced collaboration with the governments when emerging risks and foresight approach are concerned.Consequently, food policy changes in one part of the world will affect the trends and processes taking place in other parts of the world.Risk anticipation, collaboration and harmonization could be key notes along this process.
