科技部对我国“十五”期间新材料的发展进行了规划,总体安排中的重点新材料有:以光电子材料、电子信息材料、微电子材料为主体的信息材料;功能材料,具备有材料功能支撑方面的发展;结构材料。光电子材料包括三方面的工作:一是新兴光电子材料的发展;二是通用光电子材料的发展;三是面向信息获取所需要的材料。功能材料涉及到生态环境、能量转换和能量储存、稀土、信息功能、生物医药、催化、分离膜以及材料设计。结构材料领域主要是高性能金属结构材料,先进陶瓷结构材料,高性能高分子结构材料,低成本复合材料、先进建筑材料以及材料的表面处理技术等,还有整个材料的设计、评价和预报。
