一一九六三年十二月二十五日开始,华东区举办了为期一月的话剧观摩演出。在这次演出的整个过程中,环绕着提倡反映社会主义革命和社会主义建设的现代剧问题,环绕着如何使戏剧为社会主义经济基础服务的问题,上海解放日报作了一次规模较大的集中的宣传报道。在一个月时间内,发表了三篇社论,二十篇《看现代剧有感》和《文坛漫步》(杂文体裁的短论),十篇访问记,十四篇剧目评介,三十七篇新闻报道,九篇理论性文章,此外,还有发言、诗歌等。这是文艺宣传上高举毛泽东思想红旗,反对资本主义、封建主义文艺思想的一场战斗。
