In the planning and design work of hydropower stations, it is often required for some reasons that a crew space be reserved on the designed hydropower station so that units can be retrofitted during long-term development. However, the hydraulic and civil engineering projects required for reserving crew space on different types of hydropower stations are different, and the corresponding investment costs also vary. For example, when reserving a crew space on a post-dam type hydropower station, only civil works in part of the inflow buildings and factories must be completed ahead of schedule, and it is not necessary to reserve a large amount of vacancies for the crew.
