当前，改变学生的学习方式，培养学生发现问题、研究问题、解决问题的能力，已经成为世界各国教育改革共同关注的焦点。无论是学生创新精神和实践能力的培养，还是学生全面素质的提高，如果单纯地把学生局限在课本上、课堂里、校园内，那是难以真正达到教育目的的，学校教育必须与生活、实践结合起来。从这种教育理念出发，教育部颁发了《全日制普通高中课程计划(试验)》，首次列入“综合实践活动”，这是我国基础教育课程改革在课程结构上的重要突破。“综合实践活动”包括社会实践、社区服务、劳动技术教育、研究性学习。“研究性学习”因在各学段学习程度和要求不同，分别被称之为“研究型课程”（高中）、“探究型课程”（初中、小学）和“探究型主题活动”（幼儿园）。近年来上海积极进行“研究性学习”实践的探索，在理论研究和实践操作上都取得了一定的突破，为落实、推进中小学的素质教育提供了新的思路和生长点。2000年10月下旬，教育部在无锡召开了“全国普通高中课程教学改革研讨会”，上海代表介绍了开展研究性学习的基本构想和做法。受教育部委托，上海市教委将组织编写实施研究性学习的指导方案和教学材料。2001年6月19日，上海市教委在大同中学召开全市中小学研究型课程成果展示会，标志
