《春秋左传正义》为《五经正义》之一,在《左传》注疏学与唐代经学发展上都有重要价值。从经学意义上说,它兼收并蓄,打破了今古文门派之争,统一了南北之学。从文献学意义上说,它保存了大量的前贤旧注材料。人们可以通过它的记载研究两汉以及魏晋经学的发展状况。不过,它也存在偏主一家,乾没旧疏以为己说以及释解错误方面的缺陷。因为种种原因,它在唐代处于十分尴尬的位置:一方面地位很高,另一方面少有问津,这与当时科举考试的情况是分不开的。
“Spring and Autumn Zuo Zhuan Yi” is one of the “Five Classics of Justice”. It has important value in the annotation of Zuo Zhuan and the development of classics in the Tang Dynasty. From a philological point of view, it combines eclecticism, breaking the controversy between ancient and ancient literary, unified North and South. From a philological point of view, it preserves a large number of former memorial materials. Through its records, one can study the development of Confucian classics in the Han Dynasty and the Wei and Jin Dynasties. However, it also has its own predominance, its own weakness, its own faults, its drawbacks and its errors. For various reasons, it was in a very awkward position in the Tang Dynasty: on the one hand, it was in a very high position and on the other hand, it was very rare, which was inseparable from the examination conducted at that time.
