太平洋战争爆发后,东北文学被完全纳入战时体制中。小说家为了追求质量的非庸俗化、读者的阅读量、出版的畅通性和作品的去政治性,另辟蹊径开创了新的小说类型——山林秘话小说。作为伪满洲国独具一格的小说类型,山林秘话小说的发生有着深厚的文化渊源,它是中国传统文化、民间文化、地域文化和西方文化汇集、衍变、发展的结果。作为东北文学的特殊文类,山林秘话小说在创作思维、叙述模式、审美空间方面均表现出独特的价值和意义。
