笔者几年前获得一红牛筋木桩材(如墨图所示)。根盘至出枝位的主干直径4.2厘米,干形粗矮倾斜。在距根盘8厘米高的主干上,长有四棵粗细相近、向四面幅射状生长的分枝干,形成“轮生”的态势。按一般选材的要求,属不可用桩材。但经观察审视,认为可对枝干进行利用和改造。现将情况简述如下,供参考。一、对坯材枝干的利用:对轮生枝坯材的利用,首要条件是在确定好桩材观赏面的基础上,截除轮生的无用枝干,保留下一、二条枝干作为造型用。针对该材桩的具体情况,在育坯养桩之前,保留下适当长度的 A、C 两干,将 B、D 两干从基部截除。A 干直径为2.5厘米,保留干长18厘米和必要的侧枝,拟作今后造型时的重点使用干(主用干),用该干作为轮生位置以上的主干;C 干直径2.8厘米,干长10厘米,拟作备用干。如主用干不慎枯死或其他因素
