In order to understand the dynamic changes of endogenous nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin (ET) in neonatal pneumonia and their roles in the pathogenesis of severe pneumonia, 40 neonates with pneumonia were treated with NO2- / NO3- and Determination of plasma ET levels. The results showed that urinary NO2- / NO3- in children with mild pneumonia was significantly increased, but severe pneumonia was significantly decreased, with the recovery of the disease, the corresponding decline or increase in urinary NO2- / NO3-, plasma ET in mild and severe Pneumonia children were higher than the control group, the more serious the disease, the higher the ET, with the recovery of the disease, ET levels decreased. This study suggests that increased endogenous ET synthesis and NO synthesis may play an important role in the pathogenesis of severe pneumonia and even respiratory failure.
