在死亡主题这个西方现代主义文学的大背景下,身为20世纪美国最著名作家之一的海明威在他的作品中也始终贯穿了对于死亡的探索和思考。本文通过对海明威于1940年发表的战争长篇小说《丧钟为谁而鸣》的分析,来阐述其现代主义的死亡观所蕴含的现实意义。一、引言欧内斯特·海明威(Ernest Hemingway,1899—1961)出身于美国芝加哥的一个颇有文化教养的家庭。父亲是外科医生,母亲是音乐教师,父母的影响对于海明威的性格及爱好有着毋庸置疑的影响。他凭借获得普利策奖和诺贝文学奖的《老人与海》以及一系列的战争长篇小
Under the theme of death, the western modernist literature, Hemingway, one of the most famous American writers in the twentieth century, always runs through the exploration and reflection of death in his works. This essay elaborates the realistic meaning of modernism’s death concept through the analysis of Hemingway’s 1940 war novel “Where the Death Tone is Formed?”. I. INTRODUCTION Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) was a well-educated family in Chicago, United States. His father is a surgeon and his mother is a music teacher. The influence of parents has undoubted influence on Ernest Hemingway’s personality and hobbies. With his Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature, “The Old Man and the Sea” and a series of war stories
