中国共产党优秀党员、人民艺术家、著名雕塑家刘开渠同志,因病抢救无效,于1993年6月25日凌晨5时10分逝世于北京协和医院,享年89岁。刘开渠同志1904年出生于安徽萧县,1920年考入北京美术学校,在学生时代便积极投入反帝反封建的学生运动。他早年主张创造。反对袭古,主张以新的理论、感情、生命与形式创造新的艺术。他是“五四”新文化运动的积极拥护者。
At the age of 89, he died at 5.10 am on June 25, 1993 at Comoros Hospital in Beijing, comrade Liu Kaiqu, an outstanding member of the Chinese Communist Party, a popular artist and a famous sculptor, who died of illness. Comrade Liu Kaiqu was born in 1904 in Xiaoxian, Anhui Province. He was admitted to Beijing Fine Arts School in 1920 and actively devoted himself to the anti-imperialist and anti-feudal student movement during his student life. He advocated the early creation. Oppose attacking ancient times and advocate creating new art with new theories, feelings, life forms. He is an active supporter of the May Fourth New Culture Movement.
