安德鲁·怀斯(Wyeth,Andrew,1917～2009),美国20世纪最伟大的画家之一,美国超级写实主义绘画的代表人物。长于干笔画和蛋胶粉画,作品继承写实传统,又独树一帜,颇得人们心灵的共鸣和喜爱。怀斯延续了曾以爱德华·霍伯(Edward Hopper)为代表的美国地方主义绘画传统,并启发了后来出现于20世纪七、八十年代的美国照相写实主义绘画。他与抽象表现派画家杰克生·帕洛克(Jackson Pollock)及雕刻家大卫·史密斯(David Smith)同为美国艺术界的代表人物,具有崇高的地位。他的画风对中国上世纪80年代的青年油画家产生了很大影响。
Andrew Wise (Wyeth, Andrew, 1917-2009), one of the greatest painters of the 20th century in the United States, is a representative of American superrealist paintings. Longer than the dry strokes and powdered shellac, the works inherit the realistic tradition, but also unique, quite people’s soul resonance and love. Wise continued the American tradition of local painting, represented by Edward Hopper, and inspired American photorealistic paintings that later appeared in the 1970s and 1980s. He is a prominent figure in the American art scene with abstract performanceist Jackson Pollock and sculptor David Smith. His style has had a great influence on young oil painters in China in the 1980s.
