The quiet rise of the knowledge-based economy can be described as a silent revolution. It will have a significant impact on our existing modes of production, lifestyles, ways of thinking, including education, management and even leadership decisions. Correspondingly, the knowledge-based economy has also set new demands on the development of adult education. 1. In the face of the need of vast numbers of members of the society to raise their own knowledge level and adapt their knowledge to the economy and society, adult education undertakes the important task of nurturing talents for the knowledge economy and society.
