美籍华人画家郭大维博士于去年(1988年)秋来到北京开画展,并且在他的画册中发表了一篇文章,题为《中国画走向世界——给青年画家们的宣言》。与此同时,《中国美术报》将此文转载,同期还发表一篇《郭大维答本报记者问》(见该报1988年第40期)。在那两篇文章中,他以“中国画怎样走向世界”为中心主题,提出了一连串的问题,并且一一作了解答,甚至非常具体地提出了怎样解决的方案。由于他提出的问题是当前的热门话题,而“宣言”二字份量很重,在一部分美术青年中也不免掀起一阵徽波。但就我所知,尽管有些人对他的说法产生共鸣,绝大多数却感到惶惑。他们感到:郭大维提出的问题固然很重要,有些解答也还合理,但很多说法则“似是而
Dr. Guo Dawei, a Chinese American painter, came to Beijing in the autumn of last year (1988) to hold an exhibition and published an essay in his book entitled “Chinese Painting Going Global - A Declaration for Young Painters.” In the meantime, “China Art Newspaper” reprinted this article and published an article entitled “Guo Dayi Answered this reporter’s question” (see the newspaper, No. 40, 1988). In those two articles, he focused on the theme of “How Chinese Painting Goes to the World”, raised a series of questions, and answered them one by one.
