《生态社会主义贝伦宣言》从全球变暖事例出发,剖析资本主义体制导致世界生态失衡的必然(即资本主义经济的受利润驱使以及其生产的无序性和无计划性导致目前的生态危机),同时为变革资本主义提出了策略;生态的可持续发展要求经济领域的民主决策以使社会能集体决定其投入产出之目的,又要求生产方式的集体化,即生态社会主义,才能提供人类社会和自然系统的平衡和可持续所必需的长效机制。
