本课选用的阅读教材为扬州市阅读工程书目推荐书目《英语角·小读者》中的“Golden House”。这是一篇富有童趣、情节完整的故事,它讲述了一个叫Rachel的小女孩拒绝朋友进入自己金色的房子中,而她在失去朋友之后,放下了种种顾虑,改变了自己的想法,之后又重新获得了朋友,由此她体会到了分享的重要性。在联系学生特点认真研读文本后,教师精心设计了一节课外阅读课。
