On July 9, the first overseas manufacturing base for China’s railway equipment and the ASEAN Manufacturing Center of Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Group, were completed and put into operation. Malaysia has thus become the first country in ASEAN to have a new capacity for rail transit equipment products. The reporter was informed that the company’s exports to Malaysia’s world’s highest speed meter rail train group had recently been tested in the local 10 000 km fault operation, setting the world’s highest speed for a 176 km/h meter-rail railway. It is understood that this rice-rail EMU will be operated from the capital Kuala Lumpur to the 520 km electrified line of Padang Besar on the Matai border.
