The realistic ability of sculpture is different from painting. There is a story that painter Parha Hasos drew some grapes to cause a flock of birds to peck. Parha Hasos was fooled by the work of the sculptor Zeus, reaching out to the painted denim. Another story tells of a statue of Pigeon Marion, who is himself fascinated by the beauty of this statue, pray for the gods to endow it to life, and finally the statue becomes a real woman. The meaning of the previous story is simply that the truth of the painting is only deceit and illusion. The latter story emphasizes the real possibility of sculpture becoming a reality. Sculpture, a special portrait with a special ability close to the real life, can cause physical intuition, is incomparable with the painting. Duane Hansen’s portrait sculptures give full play to this ability.
