拉斯蒂涅是法国作家巴尔扎克《人间喜剧》中来自外省的家境贫寒的破落贵族青年,他是在贵族阶级和资产阶级争夺统治权的风云变幻的社会转型期努力争取地位、金钱的个人野心家;克莱德是美国作家德莱赛《美国的悲剧》中不断漂泊流浪、贫穷的下层青年,在二十世纪二三十年代美国资本主义迅速发展、物欲横流、贫富悬殊的社会中怀着对地位、金钱、繁华的渴望,走向自我毁灭的个人奋斗之路。本文拟用丹纳的理论来分析这两位个人野心家身上体现的时代特征、社会思潮。并与当代中国出现的个人奋斗者进行比较,挖掘出隐藏在这些个人野心家背后的动因。
