荣昌猪是我国优良猪种之一。它早熟易肥,体重较大,脂肪多,肉质优美,鬃毛质地特别良好。它原产于四川省荣昌和隆昌、泸州一带。在清代初期,由广东到四川的移民,把广东的白猪带到四川后,逐渐育成这个猪种。现在它分布在川东、川北、川南一带,群众很喜欢饲养。它周身白色,只是两眼圈有大小不一的黑色,也有头、耳大部为黑色的,尾根附近带有黑色的,还有少数是全身白色的。猪体是圆桶形的,面短微凹,背宽而直。也间或有凹背、垂腹和臀部倾斜的。它的腿比较短,后腿欠丰满。每胎产仔12头左右,最多的有17头的。初生仔猪一般体重0.7公斤,70天断乳的时候体重12—12.5公斤。肥育猪一般每日增重0.5—0.78公斤,屠宰率为75—82％左右,腹内脂肪大约占体重的9.8％,膘
Rongchang pig is one of the fine pig breeds in China. It is precocious and easily fattened, has a large body weight, is rich in fat, has a beautiful flesh, and has particularly good hair texture. It is native to Rongchang, Sichuan and Longchang and Zhangzhou. In the early Qing Dynasty, immigrants from Guangdong to Sichuan brought the Guangdong White Pigs to Sichuan and gradually developed the pig breed. Newborn piglets typically weigh 0.7 kg and when weaned 70 days, they weighed 12-12.5 kg. Finishing pigs generally gain 0.5-0.78 kg per day, the slaughter rate is about 75-82%, and the intra-abdominal fat accounts for about 9.8% of the body weight.
