在我们伟大的祖国土地上,山区面积占着极大的比例。在全国总面积960万平方公里的地面上,平原、盆地,仅占31％左右,高原、山地和丘陵地带约占全国总面积的69％以上。但山区的总人口,仅及全国人口的三分之一。山区耕地面积少,而且质量差。据部分省分的调查材料证明,山区人民平均每人占有耕地约2亩左右,低于全国每人平均2.6亩的耕地水平。
In our great land of the motherland, the mountainous area accounts for a large proportion. In the country’s total area of 9.6 million square kilometers of land, plains, basins account for only about 31%, plateaus, mountains and hilly areas account for about 69% of the country’s total area. However, the total population of the mountains is only one-third of the country’s population. The area of cultivated land in the mountains is small and of poor quality. According to the survey materials of some provinces, the average mountainous area people own about 2 mu of arable land, which is lower than the average level of 2.6 mu of arable land per person in the country.
